About Me
Emil Miszk is an artist of remarkable sensitivity, who explores the boundaries between tradition and innovation in jazz and improvised music. As a trumpeter and advocate of improvisational art, he merges a deep understanding of classical forms with a bold pursuit of artistic freedom. His music is a creative laboratory where contrasting ideas intertwine, resulting in compositions full of intriguing tension and unexpected resolutions. This unique style has emerged through collaborations with artists such as Markus Stockhausen, John Medeski, John Scofield, Andreas Staier, Marcin Masecki, and Mitch & Mitch.
Emil is the founder of the jazz quintet Algorhythm, which has performed at numerous prestigious festivals including Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Sopot Jazz Festival, Jazz nad Odrą, So What’s Next, and the European Jazz Contest. The group has released three original albums: Segments (2015), Mandala (2017), and Termomix (2019).
In 2017, Miszk formed the octet Emil Miszk & The Sonic Syndicate, with whom he recorded three albums: Don’t Hesitate! (2018), Artificial Stupidity (2020), and Scratches for 8 Musicians – Live at Polish Radio (2022). All of these releases were met with critical acclaim and enthusiastic reception from audiences.
Miszk is also involved in a number of other projects, including PESH, BLED, the Tomasz Chyła Quintet, and the historical trumpet quartet Tubicinatores Gedanenses. He has frequently performed as an orchestral musician with ensembles such as the Musical Theatre in Gdynia, Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, {OH}! Historical Orchestra, Leszek Kułakowski Jazz Orchestra, Konglomerat Big Band, and the Polish Radio Jazz Studio Orchestra.
In 2019, Miszk received Poland’s most prestigious music industry award – the Fryderyk from the Polish Phonographic Academy for Jazz Debut of the Year for the album Don’t Hesitate!. He has also been nominated six times in the Jazz Album of the Year category for works including Popular Music, Product Placement (Kamil Piotrowicz Sextet), Mandala, Termomix (Algorhythm), Artificial Stupidity (Emil Miszk & The Sonic Syndicate), and Music We Like to Dance To (Tomasz Chyła Quintet).
Emil Miszk is a relentlessly curious artist, constantly seeking new inspiration and ways to express himself. His creative drive is fueled by a deep passion for music and a strong commitment to artistic excellence.
