It’s a revolution you can hear within the first few seconds of the title track — which, at first, with its samples and Moog synths, feels more like a hip-hop beat. But no one is rapping here, and what's more, the double bass has disappeared from the quartet's arsenal, replaced by electronic beats. These Tricity-based musicians surprise with their pursuit of something entirely different from their previous album. Their work — both in this group and in other projects — leaves no doubt: they are searching composers, unafraid of change and uninterested in repetition. What’s truly striking is the scale of that search — and the result, which defies easy comparison to any other jazz record. In a time when it often feels like everything has already been done, that alone is a major achievement.
