Scratches for 8 Musicians - Live at Polish Radio
Emil Miszk & The Sonic Syndicate
The title of the piece refers to the English phrase “from scratch,” which can be understood as “starting anew.” The composition brings together genres and elements that have long been sources of inspiration for me: contemporary classical music, free jazz, improvised music, and the rich tradition of large jazz ensembles, like big bands. Artists such as Frank Zappa, Gard Nilssen, Barry Guy, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller — all known for their distinctive and masterful use of large ensembles — have had a profound influence on my musical direction and development.
