Musica Instrumentalis Imperialis

Tubicinatores Gedanenses is the only ensemble in Poland specializing in historical trumpet music, consistently reviving the sound of early trumpet corps. An ensemble of historical trumpets and percussion is an extremely rare sight today. The music featured in this program is based on the repertoire of the 17th- and 18th-century imperial court in Vienna, as well as the Habsburgs’ family estates located in what is now Germany, Austria, and Slovakia. The ceremonial sonatas presented here were frequently performed by musicians at both secular and ecclesiastical courts, providing entertainment and delight for noble patrons, as well as for wealthy urban patricians who hosted concerts in the privacy of their homes.
